In the early 2000s, our design department launched a series of field studies in Malaysia and Indonesia, aiming to mechanize the palm oil industry with innovative, tailor-made solutions that would improve working conditions, reduce costs and increase profitability.

The result came in 2002 with the launch of Buffalo: a 4×4 tractor that goes where others can’t. With its accessories and specific technologies for fumigation, fertilization and the collection of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), the Buffalo is the most compact and smart machine ever developed for the palm oil sector.

At Erreppi, we are pioneers in agricultural mechanization and we continue working tirelessly to further enhance the Buffalo and its systems, driving an ongoing revolution in the collection and transportation in the palm oil fields, with zero impact on soil compaction.

Our engineers designed the Buffalo with one main goal: to minimize soil impact, a key factor in maximizing long-term productivity. Why? Less pressure on the soil means roots can absorb air, water, and nutrients more efficiently, resulting in higher yields and longer-lasting crops. The top 30 cm of soil determine 90% of its overall quality: protecting this layer from excessive compaction is essential.

With a Max Compaction Index (MCI) of just 0.84 kg/cm², the Buffalo applies less than half the pressure of a standard tractor (2.20 kg/cm²), distributing its weight over a wider area. Lower pressure means less energy needed and a boost in productivity.

Harvesting is labor-intensive, involving tasks such as cutting fronds and fresh fruit bunches (FFB), moving FFB to roadside platforms, gathering loose fruit, clearing lanes by moving fronds aside, and trimming the bunch stems. The Erreppi Buffalo is the most efficient solution for FFB evacuation. This mechanized "wheelbarrow" features sturdy frames and large bins designed to carry significant quantities of FFB. Its robust design and powerful drive system enable it to tackle tough terrain with ease, ensuring fast and efficient collection of FFB from the plantation.
